OpenGuessr Hack: See the Exact Location in Every Round

OpenGuessr is a free alternative to GeoGuessr that also uses Google Street View. GeoGPT supports it out of the box: the same extension shows you the exact location of every OpenGuessr round and can drop the pin for you. Here is how to set it up and what works differently than on GeoGuessr.

How GeoGPT works on OpenGuessr

OpenGuessr shows each round in an embedded Google Street View. GeoGPT reads the location of that Street View, looks up the street, city and country, and shows everything in its panel — the same way it does on GeoGuessr.

Setup

  1. Add GeoGPT from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to your toolbar.
  2. Click the GeoGPT icon and sign in with your email (one-time code, no password).
  3. Open openguessr.com and start a round — the panel shows the place, coordinates and a map preview.

What works on OpenGuessr

  • Exact location: street, city, country and latitude/longitude
  • Auto Place Pin: the pin drops as soon as the location is found
  • Range Mode: choose a score band instead of a perfect score
  • Incognito (Pro): hide the panel and use the on-screen or window hint instead

Differences to GeoGuessr

Smart Zoom, the natural zoom animation before the pin drops, is GeoGuessr-only. On OpenGuessr, GeoGPT places the pin directly. Everything else works the same, and your free guesses are shared between both games.

Free vs. Pro

You get 3 free guesses per week across GeoGuessr and OpenGuessr. Pro is unlimited and adds Incognito and Smart Zoom — see pricing.
